Life in the Information Security Team at Resolution IT
Information Security Analyst, David Cusack, explains what it’s like working in Information & Cyber Security at Resolution IT
Firstly, who are you and how long have you been at Resolution IT?
Hello, I am David, an Information Security Analyst at Resolution IT. I have been at Resolution IT a little over 5 years now, starting off as a Trainee Technician, learning IT support from scratch and working my way up to where I am now.
What does your role consist of?
My primary role is data harvesting and reviewing vulnerability reports, but before I get to do that, I need to ensure that our vulnerability agents are installed on the end points and scheduled reports are setup and working properly so the data is accurate. I then provide reports on a weekly or monthly basis to our clients to show any vulnerabilities and changes made by our Vulnerability Management team. This data is also useful for our quarterly client reports so we can show the progress and challenges we faced in the last quarter and roadmap potential solutions for the quarter ahead.
I also carry out gap analysis to see if the client’s requirements and objectives are being met. By reviewing their setup and documentation, I can ensure they are not falling short of their requirements and advise on any changes needed.
I also assist my colleagues in doing the work needed to get our Cyber Essentials clients to be CE compliant. This work entails communicating with the client, aiding them with the questionnaire and guiding them through any changes required.
On top of that, I am tasked with keeping up to date with the latest trends in the Information Security world to see what improvements can be made to benefit the security of not only clients’ environments but also our own, as well as being aware of the latest vulnerabilities that may impact us and our clients.
