Meet Our Specialists: Dave Wratten

I’m Dave, a Senior Solutions Developer in the Digital Transformation team at Resolution IT.

As a Senior Solutions Developer, my role starts with working with our clients to evaluate business requirements and work out a solution that will meet their needs, whether that’s streamlining an existing process or developing a bespoke application to increase efficiency.

The next step is the building phase, where the code is written and I begin to develop the solution along with the wider team. As well as writing the code, I’m also responsible for conducting the code reviews for junior members of the team to ensure the highest quality is delivered.

The last step of the process is the delivery and deployment phase, where the solution is handed over to the client, ready for them to reap the benefits.

My Experience

I joined Resolution IT Business Solutions Team in 2019. I initially worked with the Power Platform, building solutions for clients using Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.

I then gained the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), DevOps Expert and other certifications which have allowed us to offer completely custom-built solutions for clients utilising the Azure platform.

I have worked on large scale applications for clients in different sectors, as well as various fintech solutions. These have included process automation, process digitisation and modernisation including application rebuilds. These solutions use a variety of technologies like the AI and Cognitive Services.

A Typical Day For Me

Because of the varied nature of my role, every day is completely different. That being said, my team always start with the Daily Stand Up meeting where we can catch up on what we’ve achieved and are planning to work on that day.

We work closely with our clients at all stages of our projects, so I have regular client meetings to conduct sessions for business analysis work, solution design, testing and training and project updates.

As a senior member of the team, I’m responsible for designing and building our solutions. This involves system architecture and user interface design.

I also spend a lot of time writing application code, mentoring junior team members and conducting code reviews.

My Favourite Projects

Some of the landmark projects I’ve worked on in the past few years include the St John Digital Transformation work. We modernised their subscription system, allowing their customers to interact with the service online, as well as creating a timesheet system to reduce the manual processing of paperwork.

I also worked on the delivery of various fintech solutions for our clients in the finance sector, including process automation to eliminate the manual effort of report gathering and statement generation.
