Meet Our Specialists: Ollie Le Prevost

Hi Ollie, can you give us an overview of your job role?

As part of the wider Professional Services team, I will either be involved in delivering the technical side of a project from start to finish, or involved as project manager. Running with the project also includes the documentation of systems and providing a smooth handover to the Service Delivery and Business Support teams, whilst the latter is all around handling the timeframes, measurables and communications between key stakeholders.

This year, as I transition into my new role, Head of Cloud Solutions, I will be reviewing our Cloud Service offerings, re-defining our baselines and looking to improve efficiencies in the delivery and maintenance of our client’s cloud environments to really provide that extra value.

What experience did you have prior to joining us?

Before working for Resolution IT, I worked for five years at a global offshore law firm. Starting out on the service desk in this complex and demanding environment was great for my career. It cemented the bigger picture approach I have today, and helped me to really understand the time / value impact of IT systems. During my time there, the transition in IT was quite remarkable; very large investments were made to upgrade all hardware and virtual servers, as-well as transition to globally leading providers for key systems, such as email filtering and protection. Being part of the infrastructure team, working on planning and delivering these changes with colleagues and our expert MSP was significant to my growth and understanding of IT systems and the positive (or negative) impact they can have on a business.

Working at an MSP is incredibly fast-paced so taking a moment to look back over the past two years provides a great sense of achievement both on a personal level and as a wider team. Most of my focus as a Consultant at Resolution IT has been on delivering value to clients through system migrations and upgrades. I’ve enjoyed working on these solutions from the very beginning; defining the requirements with the client and architecting the design to planning, delivering, and maintaining the solution. As I step into my new role this year, I am excited to take on even more varied challenges to shape the future of our service offerings and client environments.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Well, as is IT no single day is the same as another, but typically I can be found working on the following;

• Working with clients to roadmap their IT for future improvements, including budgets
• Writing and defining statements of works and quotes to suit the clients requirements
• Architecting clients’ public cloud IT environments to meet their requirements, best practices and in budget
• Assisting our service delivery team with escalated tickets
• Delivering projects to clients on-time, in budget and most importantly to their requirements

Are there any projects you’ve worked on that you’ve found most interesting?

Some of the projects I have found most interesting have been around the public Cloud solutions we offer. Migrating clients infrastructure into Microsoft’s Azure and transitioning them to take full advantage of Microsoft’s 365 SaaS platforms, such as Exchange Online, Teams and Intune have been my favourite projects to deliver.
