Resolution IT and Guernsey Conservation Volunteers
Angela Salmon, Group Coordinator at Guernsey Conservation Volunteers, talks about the relationship between Resolution IT and GCV.
“Resolution IT first teamed up with the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers in September 2020 for a very successful sour fig pulling work party at Les Tielles on the south coast. During 2021, teams from Resolution IT joined GCV at three work parties – the first in March at Bordeaux which involved cutting back brambles around young trees; the second and third in May and September, involved pulling up sour fig at Portinfer and L’Eree. The event at Portinfer was part of a national event for ‘Invasive Species Week’. The work parties at Portinfer and L’Eree involved large teams from Resolution IT and, added to the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers, the total number of people attending exceeded 50 which was record breaking! With such a large number of people at work parties the amount of work done is fantastic! The huge amount of sour fig removed will make a very significant difference to these sites and the native plants will be able to grow and thrive.
2021 marked the 25th anniversary of the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers and Resolution IT very kindly supported our group with the purchase of 50 organic cotton T-shirts for the volunteers as well as a generous contribution towards a much-needed laptop. Further support was provided with some training in graphic design to create social media graphics, posters and presentations. Being a small local charity the support from Resolution IT makes a big difference and is very much appreciated.
2022 is the 15th anniversary of Resolution IT and the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers are looking forward to continuing to work together. The team at Resolution IT are enthusiastic and hardworking and it’s always a pleasure to work with people who want to look after our beautiful natural environment.”
