Resolution Recap: March 2022
A word from Steve Brehaut
The beautiful weather throughout March has definitely marked a turning point in the year. With spring well and truly underway, it’s difficult to believe we’re already a quarter of the way through 2022. I have to commend our team for their exceptionally hard work over the past three months. It was great to be able to reward everyone’s efforts with a great team get together at Nineteen for our very postponed Christmas do! We reached a tremendous company milestone in March, surpassing 50 employees. Looking at how far we’ve come in the 15 years since Olly and I founded Resolution IT makes me incredibly proud. I think we’re extremely lucky to have such a strong team of passionate individuals that each bring something different to the table. As Resolution IT keeps growing, our priority continues to be about working hard to provide our clients with the best service and most cutting edge and innovative technology solutions.
Social and Community
One of our March highlights (aside from the sun) was our Christmas party! Yes that’s right, we were finally able to celebrate our team Christmas party after months of postponing due to Covid restrictions. We all got together at Bar Nineteen for some festive food, a drink (or 5) and the highlight of our year… the Resolution IT Awards! Presented by James Le Gallez, these light-hearted awards celebrated the different qualities that everyone brings to the table. Everyone has worked so hard over the past year and it was important to be able to recognise and reward everyone’s commitment. Well done team, you’ve done us proud! TDR put a fun little video together for us of the night, which you can watch here.
We teamed up with Guernsey Conservation Volunteers once more to clear the brambles from the young trees on Bordeaux mound. This was definitely hard work but we had the sun on our side and it was amazing to see the progress we made! We cleared 12 tonne bags full of the invasive plant, leaving space for the local flora to thrive and the trees to grow healthily. If you’d like to get involved with the next GCV event, visit their website here.
The Kabuki Charity Ball was in March and we were delighted to have a few members of the team in attendance. It was a fantastic event that raised an amazing £20,000 for two important local charities; Bright Tights and The Youth Commission, as well as an additional £5,000 for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Resolution IT was pleased to donate a stay at Camp de Reves glampsite which raised £1600 at auction.
15th Anniversary Updates
We unveiled our ‘Life at Resolution IT’ video in March as part of Careers Week. We loved creating this project and we hope you enjoyed learning more about life at our company. If you missed it, you can watch it here.
Our Design a Gadget competition opened for entries on 21st March. This competition is open to students in years 3-6 and encourages entrants to invent and design an awesome gadget and explain what it does and why they invented it. We visited local schools earlier in the month to speak to the children about the competition and answer their questions, and it was so great to see how excited they were! We’ve already had a few great entries, including a house that folds up into a backpack and trainers that play music. For more information and to enter, click here.
Our next initiative in our ’15 Resolutions for 15 years’ is Alternative Transport Month which is happening in May. This challenge encourages our team to get to work in the most sustainable way possible. Whether that’s cycling, walking or catching the bus, the aim is to use petrol or diesel fuelled cars as little as we can. When we did this last year, the 15 people involved racked up a total of 830 miles travelled sustainably. This year we want to get even more people involved with hopes to encourage cycling and walking throughout the year where possible, which is also helped by our new electric pool bike and dedicated indoor bike rack.
Careers Week
Careers week began on 7 March and we took the opportunity to share lots of helpful resources to those who are just starting out on their career journey. We shared team interviews, information about work experience, insights to life at our company and our current vacancies.
Head of Business Solutions, Shaun Lane, Head of Managed Services, John-Paul Wakeford and Senior Technician, Luke Greeno, also attended the Careers fair during this week. They were on hand to answer any student questions, provide some insight into careers at Resolution IT and give advice to those looking to begin a career in the IT industry.
Team News
Congratulations to Nick Robilliard, Information Security Consultant, who has achieved his CIRSC certification.
Nick said: “Information and cyber security is as much about governance and assurance as it is about technology. ISACA’s Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) is a certification that demonstrates the ability to manage enterprise risk in relation to information systems. An integral part of Resolution IT’s information security offering is to advise our clients on best practice controls based on the highest priority risks their businesses’ face, this certification further demonstrates our ability to do that.”
David Cusack, Senior Technician, completed his L3 Infrastructure Apprenticeship after a year and a half of hard work, exams, projects and challenges. Well done David! You can read about his experience here.
