Resolution Design Challenge 2025 – Guernsey Winners Announced

Resolution IT celebrates the brilliant young Guernsey winners of this year’s annual design challenge

For the fourth consecutive year, Resolution IT invited Guernsey’s budding inventors in school years 3 to 6 to take part in its annual design challenge, and once again, there was some fantastic creativity on display. This year’s brief challenged children to design a wearable gadget, and hundreds of imaginative and innovative inventions poured in. Among the submissions were language-translating headphones, hover boots, sunglasses that can see into the future, and even an extendable hand!

With over 400 entries submitted in Guernsey alone, 2025 has been a record year for the competition. Our panel of judges faced the tough task of selecting just five winners from such a strong field of entries.

Charity Partner

Each year Resolution IT partners with a local charity to make the competition even more impactful. For 2025, we were proud to collaborate with the Youth Commission for Guernsey & Alderney. This year’s partnership supported the Youth Commission’s recent ‘Bus Stop’ initiative – a mobile youth centre bringing services directly to young people across the island. During the prize-giving ceremony, Youth Commission CEO Louise Leale spoke about the organisation’s vital work, and Resolution IT was delighted to present the Youth Commission with a Meta Quest VR Headset, which will be available for young people to enjoy onboard the Bus Stop.

The winners also took home some fantastic prizes, made possible by the generosity of our sponsors. PlainSail proudly returned as the competition’s headline sponsor, while additional prizes for both the Guernsey and Jersey competitions were provided thanks to the support of Fort, Clicksmith, Spring Insure, LTS Tax, NSM, Aladdin’s Cave, and Blue Islands.

Design Challenge Winners

A huge congratulations is in order for each of our winners, it was a very tough competition.

Prizes were presented by our Managing Director, Steve Brehaut. In addition to the prizes listed below, each student received an art kit and bag from Resolution IT.

First Place: Addison Margetts, Vauvert Primary School

Addison won a Meta Quest 3 VR Headset, courtesy of PlainSail, and a £500 donation for Vauvert School from Resolution IT.

Second Place: Seren Rees, St Martin’s Primary School

Seren won flights for two, courtesy of Blue Islands.

Third Place: Imogen Flatres, Vale Primary School

Imogen won some Sony Headphones, courtesy of our prize sponsors.

Innovation Award: Irene Adeolu, Vauvert Primary School

Irene won a smart watch and £50 Freedom Surf Shop voucher, courtesy of our prize sponsors.

Youth Commission Award: Adaline Devonshire, St Mary and St Michael Primary School

Adaline won two LEGO sets and a £50 Aladdin’s Cave voucher, courtesy of Aladdin’s Cave.
