Resolution Design Challenge 2025 – Jersey Winners Announced

Dane Bryans, Jersey Managing Director, reflects on this year’s Design Challenge

This year marked the fourth edition of the Resolution IT Design Challenge, and I’m thrilled to share just how incredible the 2025 competition turned out to be — especially here in Jersey.

For those who may not be familiar, the Design Challenge is an annual initiative we run across the Channel Islands, inviting students from school years 3 to 6 to imagine and design their own wearable gadgets. Every year, I’m blown away by the creativity and originality of the entries, and 2025 was no exception.

We received all sorts of brilliant and inventive concepts — from a ring that can control time and levitation boots, to a teleportation jumper and rocket shoes. Narrowing down the winners was no easy task, so our winners should feel very proud.

Our Charity Partner and Sponsors

This year, we were delighted to partner with the JBFC Foundation, whose community-driven work adds a meaningful layer to the competition. At our prize-giving event, Jonathon Buesnel from the Foundation spoke passionately about the charity’s mission and the positive impact it’s making across the island.

A huge thank you goes out to PlainSail, our headline sponsor, who donated two Meta Quest VR headsets for the overall Jersey and Guernsey winners. We also received generous support from Fort, Clicksmith, Spring Insure, LTS Tax, NSM, Aladdin’s Cave, and Blue Islands, helping us provide brilliant prizes to our runners up, including Sony headphones, flights, LEGO and a smart watch.

Now, onto the winners!

A big congratulations to:

  • First Place: Freya Smith – St Lawrence Primary School
  • Second Place: Isla Bowden – FCJ Primary School
  • Third Place: Thea Wood – St Lawrence School
  • Jersey Bulls Foundation Award: Ivy Martins – FCJ Primary School
  • Innovation Award: Casper Bosio – FCJ Primary School

We were also proud to present St Lawrence Primary School with a £500 donation in recognition of Freya’s winning design.

Thank You!

To every student who entered — thank you. The ideas, imagination, and effort put into your work was genuinely inspiring. I’m also grateful to the teachers and parents who encouraged our entrants along the way, our generous sponsors for donating such fantastic prizes, and to Jersey Bulls Foundation for partnering with us.

This competition is one of the highlights of our year, and I already can’t wait to see what the next generation of young designers will come up with in 2026!
